How to Write a Blog Post with AI (Without the Robot Smell)

[ Ad Space 970×90 — AdSense ]

AI writing tools can draft a 1,000-word post in seconds. The problem isn't speed — it's that the result often reads like a press release written by a committee that has never left the building. The fix isn't refusing AI. It's using it as a writing partner, not a ghostwriter. Here's the workflow that keeps your voice intact while still saving you hours.

1. Start from your own outline — never a blank prompt

The single biggest cause of robotic output is the lazy prompt: "Write a blog post about remote work." That hands the AI the topic, the structure, the opinions and the tone all at once, and it defaults to generic.

Do the human part first. Spend five minutes writing 4–6 bullet points of what you want to say. Then prompt: "Expand this outline into a draft, keep a conversational tone, don't add statistics I didn't give you." You stay in control of the argument; the AI just fleshes it out.

2. Let AI do the boring parts, not the soul

AI is genuinely good at the mechanical, low-judgment work. Offload that:

What it is bad at: having actually been anywhere, holding a real opinion, or knowing your reader's specific situation. Keep those for yourself.

3. The "robot smells" to cut

AI text has a recognizable perfume. After any AI draft, Ctrl+F for these and delete or rewrite:

4. Add the specifics AI can't invent

This is what lifts a post from "fine" to "worth reading." A real number. A name. A mistake you made. A specific tool you use (yes, like our JSON formatter when you're pasting API responses into a post). AI can mimic style; it cannot have lived your Tuesday. One concrete detail per section is enough to make the whole thing feel human.

5. Edit like you're late for a meeting

Read the draft aloud. Where you stumble, the sentence is too long. Cut every word that doesn't earn its place. A good rule: if removing a sentence doesn't change the meaning, remove it. Tight writing is the most reliable "this is a real person" signal there is.

6. Basic SEO so the right people find it

AI won't rank your post for you. Useful, specific, readable content does — slowly, then compounding.
