Why use an FBA profit calculator?

Many new sellers lose money on their first orders without even realizing it. Amazon takes many fees: the referral fee (usually 8%–15%), FBA fulfillment fee, storage fee, ad spend, return losses… Pricing on "price minus cost" alone is badly misleading.

This calculator lays out every item: net profit = price − cost − freight − FBA fee − referral − ad − other. New sellers should budget an ad rate of 10%–15% and fill the referral rate by category (most standard items are 15%) so the resulting margin is close to reality.

Rule of thumb: if net margin is below 15%, it is usually not worth it unless you can move huge volume. To "get rich slowly," start by understanding the profit on every single order.
